June 09, 2018: Left backed candidates won the president and assistance general secretary posts in the High Court Bar Association polls while Posts of secretary and vice president were won by Congress supported candidates. BJP managed to secure the post of treasurer.
Sources said, Senior Advocate Sankar Deb supported by Left Panel beat rival BJP’s Amitava Roy Barman by a ‘handsome’ margin and won in polls for president post. Paramita Dhar being backed by Congress’s legal cell beat her opponent BJP’s Samrat Kar Bhowmik for the position of secretary. The vice-president’s post was secured by Congress’s nominee Pranabasish Majumdar and the post of assistant general secretary was won by Left panel’s Sougata Datta. The treasurer’s post was secured by BJP’s Rajib Saha. The six executive members who were elected were Haradhan Sarkar, Dipa Sengupta, Koushik Datta, Saikat Saha, Koushik Nath and Sagar Banik.
