December 28, 2017: In a fiery speech, Assam Finance Minister Dr Himant Biswa Sharma today slammed Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar at a public Rally at Kanthalia HS School ground under Chief Minister Manik Sarkar’s Assembly constituency – Dhanpur in Sepahijala District.
He blamed the CM for murder of six BJP workers. Referring to murder and alleged Police inaction, Dr Dharma cautioned the CM and said, CM and CPIM supporters will be driven out of Tripura, if BJP comes to power. Urging people to rally behind BJP, he said, CM will have to taste defeat in Dhanpur. He said, CM’s own constituency is lagging behind in terms of development.
Lashing out LF Government for its failure to attain development, Dr Sharma said, it is very much peculiar that there are hospitals but there is dearth of doctors, there are schools sans teachers. He alleged, ruling party is compelling people to support CPIM. Listing out failures of LF Government, Dr Sharma said, after ensuing Assembly Polls, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar will not find a place to hide in Tripura and he will have to leave for other Left ruled State, Kerala.
Scaling up ante against the CM is understandable strategy but ”drive out” comment from a seasoned Politician like Dr Sharma is unexpected – this will hand over ammunition in the hands of CPIM, critics stated.
Meanwhile immediately after Dr Sharma’s high voltage speech, CPIM State Committee strongly reacted and condemned the statement Dr Sharma pertaining sending CM Manik Sarkar and CPIM supporters off to out of Tripura. In a press communiqué, CPIM State Committee said, unequivocally condemned the statement made by a Minister of other State. Condemning the ‘fascist’-like statement of Dr Sharma, CPIM State Committee appealed to people raise voice against such forces and to remain vigilant to thwart any attempt to disrupt peaceful condition.
Such a comment on Tripura CM by a Minister of another State is highly condemnable and an insult to common people of Tripura, CPIM Party sources said.
