January 12, 2018: In an attempt to put pressure on the State Government before the Assembly Polls, contractual employees of Horticulture department intensified their agitations demanding regularization of services. In support of their demand, the agitators today blocked the Agartala-Simna road near Circuit House. Daily commuters and people returning to their homes from job places during the weekend had a harrowing time.
Earlier, they had placed a memorandum to Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and approached Finance Minister and Agriculture Minister to press for their demand and also gheraoed the Agriculture Director to press for their demand in vain.
Desperate to get some positive response from the State Government, agitators even threatened to oppose the LF Government openly in ensuing polls unless their demand is fulfilled.
