Agartala, November 17, 2019: Hard to believe but it really happened – It seems to be copied from Ripley’s ‘Believe it or not’ show, a huge 12-wheeler truck literally ‘vanished’ from road. Such an intriguing incident took place at Assam-Meghalaya bordering area on Saturday.
The truck belongs to Rakhi Debnath of Padmapukur under Dharmanagar in North Tripura. It is learnt, the driver of the huge truck Samiran Nath parked the lorry at 12th Mile, Ampher, GS Road – around two km from Jorabat towards Shillong. He parked the lorry at around 11 am and went to collect payment at Beltala keeping the co-driver Abhijit Nath in the truck.
At around 8.30pm, the driver came to know that the lorry was not in the place of parking. He asked the co-driver – but what the co-driver said is a matter, which happened for the first time in the State. The co-driver left the lorry and went to nearby tea-stall to have cup of tea. “After I returned from the tea stall, I did not find the lorry and was searching for it”, the co-driver said.
Later, the duo lodged a complaint with Police at Byrnihat Police Outpost of Meghalaya. The duo lodged verbal complaint with Byrnihat Police Outpost on the same day and lodged FIR today. In the FIR, Samiran Nath – the driver of the 12-wheeler alleged, “I came to know from my handyman Abhijit Nath that the said vehicle was missing/stolen from the place of parking at the time when he (handyman) has (had) gone out for having Tea in nearby shop”.
“This is for the first time that a huge vehicle, like a 12-wheeler truck simply ‘vanished’ which was parked side of the road. Earlier, incidences of smaller vehicles being stolen were reported – but it never happened with such a huge vehicle”, Dharmanagar based people opined.
