May 16, 2018: Reacting promptly after Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb’s reported ‘warning’, IPFT leaders today held an organizational meeting in Agartala. After a prolong meeting, IPFT supremo and State Revenue Minister NC Debbarma held a press meet and urged the Government to formulate a guideline for selecting chairman of Block Advisory Committee (BAC). Saying that preparing a time consuming matter, he urged the Government promulgate Ordinance and tackle the present situation with the permission of the Governor. Hoe however, avoided any reply to questions on IPFT’s demand for separate Twipraland.
Recently, IPFT cadres created chaos at several blocks, staged road blockade, called strike over the selection of BAC Chairman issue and even violent clashes were broke out between BJP-IPFT. The rift between BJP and IPFT came to surface after the State Government announced names of BAC chairman for 27 RD blocks on May 11.
Peeved at IPFT’s relentless pressure politics, the Chief Minister Biplab Deb reportedly issued a 24-hour ultimatum to its ally IPFT. After getting the reported warning from the CM, IPFT today called an emergency meeting and discussed the prevailing situation. While speaking to media, NC Debbarma, however, remained silent over IPFT’s demand for separate Twipraland.
