Goa inferno: At least 25 dead in Arpora restaurant blaze
Agartala, Dec 7: At least 25 people have lost their lives in a devastating fire that broke out at Birch by Romeo Lane in Arpora, North Goa, IANS reported in an X post.
President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others expressed deep sorrow and condolences.
According to the X post, the fatalities reportedly include four tourists and fourteen staff members associated with the establishment. The identities of seven other victims are yet to be officially confirmed, officials stated.

Six individuals who sustained injuries in the incident have been admitted to hospitals and are undergoing treatment. Their condition remains under medical observation.

The exact cause of the blaze has not been determined so far. Police and fire service personnel have initiated parallel investigations to ascertain how the fire began and whether there was any lapse in safety measures.
Legal proceedings have also been set in motion as authorities move ahead with the inquiry.

President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday conveyed her profound grief over the major fire that engulfed a well-known club in Arpora, North Goa, resulting in the deaths of at least 23 people and leaving several injured.

Offering her condolences to the bereaved families, the President termed the incident as deeply tragic and wished a speedy recovery for those receiving medical care.

The Prime Minister declared that the families of the deceased would receive an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh each, while Rs 50,000 would be provided to the injured, IANS reported.
