Students of two different locations – Jampui and Boxanagar in Tripura – voiced a note of dissent and protest against transfers of teachers from respective schools. Agitating students were demanding cancellation of the transfer orders of the concerned teachers.
Students and the school management committee came out at Jampui HS School under North Tripura district on Friday protesting against transfer of the lone Economics teacher from the school to another school.
In a letter to the Director of the Secondary Education, students of the school wrote and alleged, “due to pandemic, we have lost many precious days without proper classes. Now, as the normalcy returns and smooth-functioning of the schools starts, the Education Department is trying to ruin our studies by transferring one of our teachers.”
The letter also mentioned, many teachers have been taken away from the school in the name of deputation and transferring our teachers without any substitute teacher.
The need of the hour is to strengthen the number of teachers so that students can make up the lost time due to pandemic and get quality education, the Department is reducing number of teachers “, agitating students as well as management committee members alleged.
In the wake of such a situation, urging the concerned authority to cancel the transfer order of the lone Economics Teacher of the School, students wrote to the Director, “This time there will not be any compromise regarding transfer of the lone Economics teacher of the School.”
Meanwhile, another group of students of Rahimpur Higher Secondary School at Boxanagar in Sepahijala District blocked road protesting against deputing a Science teacher of the school to another school. Protesting students also locked the school. They threatened to keep the school locked until deputation order of the science teacher is being revoked.
