Tripura beat Karnataka in Super Over thriller in Syed Mushtaq Ali T20
Agartala, Dec 8: An impressive all-round performance by skipper Manisankar Murasingh powered Tripura to a thrilling victory over Karnataka in Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 (SMAT). The Tripura captain top-scored for his side in the match and later bowled in the Super Over, where he picked up a crucial wicket.
With this victory, the State cricket team concluded their Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 journey on a winning. They defeated Karnataka in a tense Super Over clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium today.
Chasing Karnataka’s 197/6, Tripura matched the total at 197/8 by the end of 20 overs, pushing the match into a Super Over, where they hammered a decisive 22 runs.

During the Super Over, Sreedam Paul finished in style with a blistering 16 off four deliveries, including two maximums, while Mani Shankar contributed 5 off two to complete the over without losing a wicket.
Given a target of 23, Karnataka managed only 18/1, with the Tripura skipper striking in his third delivery. Abhinav Manohar was Karnataka’s standout in the Super Over, scoring 11 from just three balls. Mani Shankar Murasingh was the star of the match, blasting a rapid 69 from 35 balls and later steering the Super Over, earning him the Player of the Match honour.

Earlier, Karnataka chose to bat first after winning the toss and put up a competitive 197/6 on the board. B.R. Sharath (44 off 20), Macneil (34 off 21), Devdutt Padikkal (32 off 23) and Mayank Agarwal (29 off 26) maintained the flow of runs, while Shaman R added late firepower with 24 off 11. For Tripura, Mani Shankar Mura Singh (2/30) and Saruk Hossain (2/35) delivered standout spells with the ball.

Tripura’s run chase stumbled after a solid opening. However, Mani Shankar’s explosive 69 steadied the pursuit and kept them alive in the contest.

For the State team, Hanuma Vihari struck 36 from 19 balls, Sreedam Paul contributed 28 off 15, and Sourabh Das added a quick 13 off 6 to ensure scores were tied at the end of the allotted overs. Shubhang Hegde and Praveen Dubey bagged two wickets each for Karnataka.
With this win, Tripura conclude their campaign in the Syed Mustaq Ali T20 with two victories in seven games — a confidence-boosting finish achieved under intense pressure.
