The demand for electricity in Tripura has increased due to the improvement in people’s livelihoods. To meet this growing demand, the State government is working hard to upgrade the power sector. This was stated by Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Saturday.

Nath was speaking at the inauguration of an Electric Division office at Ranirbazar in the West district and said the number of Divisional Offices of the Electricity Department is being increased in the state to provide uninterrupted service to consumers.

In his speech, the Power Minister highlighted the importance of establishing a reliable power infrastructure to ensure an uninterrupted power supply for the people of the state. The power sector is currently undergoing modernization to achieve this goal. One of the key initiatives of the Power department in upgrading the system is the installation of underground power cables.

“The work of laying underground power lines has commenced in the state, starting with the first phase in the Agartala Municipal Corporation areas. This initiative will be extended to all areas under municipal corporations and Nagar Panchayats in a phased manner,” he added.

Nath further emphasized that laying underground power cables will ensure uninterrupted power supply, especially during the monsoon season.

Meanwhile, State Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury who was also present in the programme today said the inauguration of the Electric Division office in Ranirbazar has fulfilled the long-standing demands of the local people. He also emphasized that the state government is giving priority to the development of electricity services.

Among others, MD of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) Debashish Sarkar and Jirania Panchayat Samiti Chairman Manju Das were present in the programme.
