Forests and its multi-hued greeneries always attract tourists – and Tripura is endowed with natural splendour. For this reason, the State Government is emphasizing on the development of forest-centric tourist spots. Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma said this while inaugurating renovated Bardosh Eco Park under Rajnagar block in South District on Friday.
Notably, the Eco-park was renovated and rejuvenated through MGNREGA. While the rejuvenated Park will create earning opportunities to locals in future, utilization of MNREGA has helped people of the area to earn man-days wages. In this connection, the Deputy Chief Minister said that an average of 54.17 man-days was created under MGNREGA in South Tripura.
Dev Varma also said, “the Eco Park was lying uncared and in an abandoned state. The park was rejuvenated through MGNREGA by adding components and plantations. The Rural Development Dept had earlier decided to carry out one big project in every district. This is the first that has completed the first phase”.
He strolled around the Park and explored tourism potentiality. Later, he said, “(We) Will add some more components in the later phases”.
“A tourist circuit connecting Trishna Sanctuary, butterfly parks, Bardosh Park and Indo-Bangla Maitri Park”, Dev Varma said.
Talking about Government’s standpoint on tourism, he said, “The State Government has accorded priority to the development of State tourism sector so that socio-economic condition of people engaged in this sector”.
Among others, MLAs Arun Chandra Bhowmick and Sankar Roy, along with DM (south) and other officials were present at the occasion.
