Doctors of the State, once again, came out with flying colours after successfully treating a Covid positive pregnant woman of Baszarichhara in Assam and delivering a baby girl. The incident took place at Dharmanagar District Hospital and credit goes to Dr. Pushpal Chowdhury.
Amidst Covid Pandemic, several doctors and medical staff are rendering laudable services and in many case, with limited resources, medicos helped Covid positive pregnant woman to deliver healthy baby.
However, the case in Dharmanagar District Hospital is a bit different. Here the patient came from Bazarchhara in Assam after visiting Karimganj District Hospital in Assam. The husband of the pregnant woman heard about efficiency of Obstetrician and Gynae doctors and staff of Dharmanagar district hospital – so they did waste time but rushed to Dharmanagar Hospital.
According to local sources, one Jyotirmoy Das, a resident of Bazarichhara took his pregnant wife to a hospital at Makunda on July 9 last. However, as the woman tested Covid positive, she was referred to Karimganj District Hospital in Assam. It was alleged, Karimganj Hospital authority further referred the woman to Silchar without giving her primary treatment to address her increasing labor pain.
At this point, Jyotirmoy Das, instead of going to Silchar, brought his wife to Dharmanagar District Hospital. After the couple reached the Hospital, Obstetrician Dr. Pushpal Chowdhury rushed to the hospital.
Even as there were minimum facilities and resources to handle such a critical patient, Dr. Chowdhury started her treatment immediately and successfully delivered a baby girl. He kept both the mother and her newborn baby under observation last night. The Father of the newborn baby said, both the mother and daughter are doing fine.
The Obstetrics and Gynae department under the guidance of Dr. Pushpal Chowdhury along with Dr. Sarmista Chakraborty has already won the hearts of numerous pregnant women and their families for saving lives in North District.
Now, their tireless services have benefitted a woman of other State as well. Jyotirmoy Das expressed his gratitude to the Doctors and health staffs of Dharmanagar District Hospital.
