Tripura has so far recorded complete vaccination of 24.67 percent eligible population against the target population of 26.24 lakh, an official said on Sunday.
“Total 27,05,506 doses have so far been administered in the state— 20,58,044 persons have received the first jab and 06,47,462 persons among them have also been vaccinated with the second shot. While 78.43 percent of the total eligible population has been vaccinated with the first dose, 24.67 percent population against the target has been fully vaccinated”, said Dr. Siddhartha Shiv Jaiswal, Tripura Mission Director of National Health Mission.
Sharing data from the available sources, the NHM mission director said the projected population in Tripura as on March 01, 2021 was 40.19 lakh including 13.95 lakh people in the age groups 0-18 years.
Addressing a press conference, he said, “As per the data, the number of eligible population for vaccination in the state is 26.24 lakh. The figure included 16.3 lakh in 18-44 age group (62.1 percent) and 9.94 lakh in 45+ age groups (37.9 percent).”
In the 18-44 age group, Jaiswal said, total 9,10,985 persons (55.88 percent) received the first dose and 14,127 persons (1.55 percent) got the second dose. For this age group, the vaccination had started in May last and the time for taking second dose was 84 days.
Giving more details, he said, in case of the 45+ age groups, 9,96,804 persons had been administered the first dose (100.28 percent achievement) and 5,37,504 persons (53.92 percent) among them had also received the second shot.
According to Jaiswal, 74.21 percent of the Healthcare Workers and 57.98 percent of the Frontline Workers had already received both the doses.
Speaking to the media, the official said earlier there was miscommunication regarding the target population and a counter affidavit would soon be submitted before the High Court of Tripura with all the latest details.
Regarding the Covid pandemic 2.0 management, he said that focus was laid on testing, contact tracing and treatment of the patients apart from vaccinating the people against the virus.
Replying to a query, he said around 1800 oxygen supported beds were available and two oxygen plants—one at IGM hospital and the other at Regional Cancer Hospital, Agartala would be commissioned by this week.
