The Fifteenth Finance Commission has awarded Tripura a grant of Rs. 875 crore for multiple projects in the State.
The projects included- development of seven district headquarters, construction of ropeway and Shakti Peethas at Matabari, light and sound show at Neer Mahal and construction of building complex.
According to a press release, the XV Finance Commission has approved a grant of Rs. 400 crore for construction of two check dams at Champaknagar and Champaicherra. Once the project is completed, the drinking water problem in AMC and adjacent areas will come to an end. Besides, the construction work will create employment scopes.
For ropeway and construction of 51 Shakti Peethas at Tripura Sundari temple as well as for light and sound show in Neermahal, the 15th Finance Commission has approved Rs. 175 crore. The project is expected to open a new horizon in the tourism sector.
A building complex will be constructed to bring various departments under one roof. For construction of the building complex, an amount of Rs. 100 crore has been approved as per the recommendation of the 15th Finance Commission. This project aims at reducing time in case of file forwarding from one to another department as well as completion of work.
The Finance Commission has approved another Rs. 125 crore for development of five district headquarters- Khowai, Ambassa, Bishramganj, Belonia and Kailashahar. For this Rs. 25 crore each was approved. Under the same project, the grant for Udaipur and Dharmanagara is Rs. 75 crore. The press release said, the fund would be utilized for improvement of drainage system, solid waste management, road, light and other infrastructural development.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has shared the update on his social media handle conveying his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Fifteenth Finance Commission for the grant.
