Agartala, November 11, 2019: CPI-M Central Committee member from Tripura Badal Chowdhury has been sent to four-day Police Remand today in Agartala subject to certain conditions.
After hearing Police plea for Police remand, District and Session Court Judge Justice Satyajit Kar Purakayastha granted Police plea on conditions that Badal Chowdhury should be kept in separate room fitted with bed, drinking facilities, attached bathroom and toilet. Moreover, his family members should be allowed to meet him in remand.
Veteran CPI-M leader and former PWD minister Badal Chowdhury is one of the three accused in over Rs 600 cr PWD scam during previous Left Front regime in Tripura. Out of two other accused, ex chief engineer Sunil Bhowmik is already under police net and today he has been sent to Jail remand till November 22 next. The third accused ex Chief secretary of Tripura YP Singh is still out police dragnet.
Suffering from multiple diseases, Badal Chowdhury who also had by-pass surgeries was earlier sent to Jail remand after being released from government run GB Hospital. He was admitted at GB Hospital ICU after being taken to Police Lock for a brief period.
