January 19, 2018:
Hectic parleys over pre-poll alliance between BJP and IPFT appear to be over ultimately and tie up deals were inked. Even though it was learnt that BJP had agreed to allot 9 out of 20 ST seats to IPFT, State BJP vice president Subal Bhowmik today said in Agartala that final announcement of seat sharing will be made after All India BJP general secretary Ram Madhav and Assam Minister Dr Hemanta Biswa Sharma arrive in Agartala on Sunday.
Meanwhile, in another interesting twist, three tribal based parties are holding discussions with Congress and Trinamool Congress to form a five-party alliance. After a long wait for a call from BJP to form alliance, IPFT (Twipraha), INPT and NCT ultimately lost hopes and decided to explore other options.
In a meeting tonight at Congress MLA Gopal Roy’s residence, Rajeswar Debbarma if IPFT (Twipraha), Bijoy Hrangkhwl and Jagadish Debbarma of INPT and Animesh Debbarma of NCT held a meeting in presence of State Observer cum TMC MLA of West Bengal Sabyasachi Dutta to discuss on forming a third front and forge a five party alliance between Congress, TMC, IPFT (Twipraha), INPT and NCT. However, final announcement on this alliance has not made yet by concerned leaders.
