December 20, 2017: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reportedly expressed concern over prevailing law and order condition of Tripura. Sources said, after holding consultation with BJP All India president Amit Shah and Home Minister Rajnath Singh on reports submitted by the BJP Parliamentary team that visited the State in November last, PM reportedly expressed deep concern.
Even though overall situation in the State is peaceful and under control, two journalists of the State were killed brutally and sporadic violence between political parties broke out in the past few months. In case of journalists’ murder, Police promptly formed SIT and started investigation with immediate success. Suspected killers were nabbed and produced before Court. Even though ruling Party is claiming that the situation is calm, BJP is scaling up ante against CPIM on prevailing law and order conditions and seeking Centre’s intervention.
A three-member BJP Parliamentary Team – consisting Meenakshi Lekhi, Prahlad Singh Patel and Saroj Pandey – toured several areas of the State and held discussions with stake holders. Later the Team submitted its findings to the Prime Minister, Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh. After holding discussions on the report submitted by the Parliamentary Team, PM Modi expressed his concern.
