Agartala, October 30, 2019: Ex-PWD minister of Tripura and Deputy leader of the Opposition, Badal Chowdury was shifted to ICU at GB Hospital today after a team of doctors examined him at West Police Station today afternoon. His relative claimed Chowdhury’s condition is critical.
Earlier Badal Chowdhury was taken to West Police station in Agartala today afternoon from ILS hospital where he was undergoing treatment for the last few days. He was put in lock-up of PS and medical check-ups were conducted. Later, he was taken to GB Hospital and was admitted in ICU as his physical condition reportedly deteriorated, sources claimed.
The 70-year old Badal Chowdhury is one of the three accused persons in over Rs 600 crore PWD Scam. Out of the three, Sunil Bhowmik – ex-chief engineer of PWD was arrested and is in custody while another one – former chief secretary YP Singh is still out of police dragnet.

Police arrested Chowdhury – who remained elusive for almost a week – as soon as he was admitted in ILS Hospital last week. Today Police took him to Police station and conducted medical check-ups. Later, he was admitted in ICU in GB Hospital in Agartala. His lawyers claimed that Chowdhury’s physical condition is critical.
Meanwhile, hearing of Badal Chowdhury’s bail plea concluded in the High Court of Tripura today, however, the verdict was ‘reserved’.
