Agartala, July 29, 2019: In a simple ceremony today, Ramesh Bais, a former union minister, was sworn in as 18th Governor of Tripura. Chief Justice of the High Court of Tripura, Sajay Karol administered the oath of office and secrecy to the New Governor.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, his cabinet colleagues, MLAs, leaders of various political parties, AMC Mayor Dr. Prafullajit Singha, Chief Secretary U. Ventakesarwlu, top bureaucrats and government officials joined the swearing-in ceremony. However, former Chief Minister and Opposition Leader Manik Sarkar skipped the oath-taking ceremony.
72-year-old Bais, a veteran politician, was a minister of Atal Bihari Vajpayee government from 1999-2004.
After taking the oath, the new Governor in his message to the people of Tripura said the President of India- Ramnath Kovind assigned him a responsible post to serve the state of Tripura. “I will do my best to ensure the development of Tripura”, said the Governor.
After assuming his office, the Governor accompanied by with his wife and other relatives, offered puja to Mata Tripura Sundari this evening and prayed for the well-being of the people of Tripura.
