War to break nCoV chain

Speaking to media, Health Secreatary Dr Debashish Basu narrated several decisions of the State Government pertaining steps taken to stop spread of the virus and post-lockdown issues. He assured that the Government had adopted all the measures to break the chain and prevent transmission of the virus. He said, “Number of home quarantined persons stands at 948 while 50 persons are under Institutional quarantine. One quarantine facility has been set up at Gomati and three persons were put in there”.

After one Manipur-based woman who air-travelled via Agartala tested positive yesterday, concern was raised about other passengers who travelled in the same flight. Administration promptly collected details of passengers who got down in Agartala from that flight. On this issue, Dr Basu said, “Samples of those passengers were collected for testing”.

For safety of the doctors and health workers engaged in war against nCoV, Government has made arrangements and will press Helicopter in service for bringing Masks, Gloves and other essential things from Kolkata, Dr Basu said and added, the consignment will reach Agartala within a day or two. He also said, State Health department is in regular touch with all the DMs and SDMs and exchanging or sharing relevant information.

On Post-lockdown issues

Officials discussed about supply and availability of commodities and food items as well as actions against hoarders and black marketeers.

Director of the Food Department Hirendra Debbarma said that discussions were held with members of traders’ Associations to ensure uninterrupted goods supply across the State and there is no shortage of commodities in the State. Health Secretary added that supply of food items is out of the ambit of lockdown.

Officials also informed media that people belonging to Antyodaya  Anna Yojana and Priority Groups will get half of their rations in current month free of cost and State Food department has taken step in this direction.
