August 19, 2018: Aiming to control the drug menace, entertainment mode of communication will now be used in Tripura – street dramas will be staged to create awareness about ill effects of drugs and addiction.
After forming Govt in Tripura, BJP-led Govt declared its intention to make the State ‘addiction free’ State and combat drug menace which is affective lives large number of youths across the State.
“Drug-free Tripura is one of the first and foremost priorities of BJP-IPFT government and all possible steps are being made to make the mission successful”, said Health minister Sudip Roy Barman.
The Health minister today inaugurated an anti-drug awareness campaign initiated by Brahmakumaris in collaboration with Amtali police sub-division at AMC community hall near Camper Bazar.
The Health minister also flagged off a campaign vehicle. While applauding the efforts made by Brahmakumaris and police, he said, “Such awareness campaigns are powerful tools to eliminate the usage drugs from the society.” He said a team of Brahmakumaris will travel to several places by the campaign vehicle and stage street drama to spread anti-drug awareness among the people.
He also acknowledged the ‘Prayas’ programme introduced by the Tripura Police to help the drug-affected victims and provide real time support by reaching out to such victims even in the remotest parts of the state.
According to the organizers, the mobile van will be traveling across the state carrying some talented artists. These artists will stage thematic dramas on various aspects of addiction including ill effects of consumption of drugs.
