Agartala, March 11, 2020: In Tripura summer vacation will be rescheduled from next academic year. Moreover, Tripura Government is trying to advance date of declaring Board examination results. State Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said this at civil secretariat in Agartala today. He also said, honorarium of teachers engaged in evaluating Board exam answer sheets will be increased.
Summer vacation rescheduled
Addressing a press meet, Ratan Lal Nath highlighted on several decisions and plans of State Education department. On rescheduling summer vacation, the Minister said, “Keeping parity with rest of the country, Education department has decided to reschedule summer vacation in Tripura. From next academic year, summer vacation will begin from May 17 and end on June 7.” He also added that there was long standing demand for rescheduling summer holidays and parents, teachers and students had raised the demand several times in the past. “But the demand was never considered by previous Government. As incumbent government is keen to ensure holistic improvement in education, Education department found rationality behind the demand and decided to reschedule commencement of the vacation”, Nath said.
In this context, he also pointed out that rescheduled commencement of summer vacation is in line with time of summer vacation in rest of the country. The decision will be beneficial for students, teachers and parents, Nath asserted.
Turning attention to scrutiny of answer scripts of Board exams and publication of Board exam results, the Minister shed lights on Government plans and decisions.
Changes in Ans Script evaluation system
Announcing change in summer vacation schedule, the Minister pointed out changes made in Answer script evaluation system. Ratan Lal Nath said, “Government is trying to publish results earlier. Apart from this, honorarium for answer script checking will be hiked”. Detailing further, he said, “Honorarium for script checking will be increased to Rs 10 per script and evaluation will be conducted from April 16 to April 22. Answer script evaluation will be decentralized and apart from Agartala, evaluation of answer papers will be conducted at Udaipur in Gomati district and Kumarghat in Unakoti District”. Around 4000 teachers will be engaged in Answer sheet evaluation, the Minister informed media and added, teachers those will be selected for answer script evaluation, will have to work during entire period of April 16 to April 22 even during holidays. However, concerned teachers will get Compensatory leaves for working on holidays, Nath said.
