January 20, 2018: Sending a stern message to all social media users, State Government has kept one TCS Officer in ‘Compulsory retention” for ‘misusing’ Social Media platform. After holding discussions with the visiting Deputy Election Commissioner Sudeep Jain today in Agartala, CPIM representatives – State Committee members Samar Adhya and Harpada Das hailed the ECI’s Poll announcement and reiterated its commitment to cooperate with the Commission for free and fair polls. Also, CPIM representatives placed complaints against BJP, IPFT and the TCS Officer who has been kept on ‘Compulsory retention’ by the State Government. CPIM representatives mentioned all these information in a complaint letter submitted to the Deputy Election Commissioner Sudeep Jain.
Citing several instances of misuse of social media – facebook and whatsapp – CPIM delegates also submitted detailed of list of post. Meanwhile, one TCS officer Budiliana Hrangkhwal posted as Deputy Collector with additional charge as District Panchayat Officer, South Tripura District headquarters in Belonia under South Tripura district had been kept on ‘compulsory retention’ on Friday for posting ‘objectionable’ contents ‘slandering’ the Chief Minister and ‘inflaming’ communal hatred.
