October 25, 2018: While the State was worshiping goddess of wealth and was praying for prosperity, three persons including an elderly person were allegedly murdered during last 24 hours.
In a shocking and bizarre incident one Hiralal Biswas (30) killed his father Haribal Biswas (72) at Amtali under Krishnapur in Teliamura under Khowai district on Wednesday night. Police arrested Hiralal Biswas for patricide. It is learnt, father and son got involved in an argument over financial issues. During altercation, inebriated son bludgeoned Haribal Biswas to death. The septuagenarian died on his way to GB Hospital in Agartala.
In another incidence, one married woman – Kulsuma Begum (32) of Padmabill under Panisagar PS in North District was allegedly hacked to death by her husband Rubel Mian today. Based on statement of an eyewitness, Police arrested Rubel. The mother of the accused claimed her son is a mentally disturbed person. Parents of the deceased filed a murder case against Rubel in Panisagar PS.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a case was filed at Dharmanagar Women PS against Muniuddin, Moynul Haque and Panki Mian for thrashing a woman inside a mosque. Sources said, all the three accused persons are members of Latu Gau Mosque where the alleged assault took place. The victim was identified as Kamala Begum. Police are investigating the case.
In Gomati district, one person was beaten to death. Taking Prasad of Laxmi puja became fatal for Satyendra Sangma (45) as he was being hit severely with a stick. The incidence took place at Garji under Gomati district last night. Sources said that Satyendra Sangma went to take Prasad of Laxmipuja at the house of one woman – Santila Chakma last night. After arriving there he was engaged in argument with Santila Reang and his family members over land related issues. At that time all were in drunken condition. Sources said, Santila and her family members attacked Satyendra. In the attack, Satyendra was beaten to death. Police arrested six persons including the woman – Santila.
