The CPM State secretary Bijan Dhar unequivocally condemned ‘attack’ on SFI State president Nilanjana Roy and her ailing mother on Monday. Referring to post poll violence, Bijan Dhar warned, “There is a limit and the threshold of tolerance of the Leftists must not be tasted – violence must end”. Meanwhile, Youth and students’ wing of CPIM today held a rally in Agartala and strongly denounced the ‘attack’ on Nilanjana as well as demanded stern action against miscreants.
Bijan Dhar while speaking to media in Agartala today alleged, there is no democracy in the State and prevailing situation is akin to Fascist regime. Dhar also alleged, CPIM activists are falling victim to post poll violence. Murder of Party activists, demolition of their houses and party offices, bomb attacks and physical assaults have become regular phenomena.
Condemning the violence, a slogan shouting rally today roamed Agartala and voiced against attack on Nilanjana as well as “growing” incidences of post poll violence in the State. “Attack on Nilanjana indicates lack of security and safety of women in the State under BJP-IPFT rule. The Govt must not remain silent and take actions to stop violent attacks on Leftists”, said a DYFI activist. The Youth and student’ union – DYFI, TYF, SFI and TSU organized the rally.
Listing out attacks on CPIM supporters, Dhar claimed, as many as 100 incidences of assault on CPIM activists including attack on MLA Sudhan Das took place in the State after BJP-IPFT alliance took charge. He demanded restoration of democratic ambiance in the State immediately.
He also claimed, total 90 Party offices were demolished under BJP-IPFT regime and notice served to shift location of 170 Party offices till date. Analyzing prevailing trend in the State, Bijan Dhar alleged, ruling coalition has resorted to violence to ensure victory in two LS seats.
