Agartala April 21: Gomati district of Tripura shines bright on the Civil Services Day as Gomati District Magistrate and Collector Tarit Kanti Chakma has won the prestigious PM’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over the PM’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration on the occasion of the 17th Civil Services Day in New Delhi on Monday.
Tripura CM congrats
Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha hailed the success. In a social media post, Dr Saha wrote, “Heartfelt congratulations to the people of Gomati district and District Magistrate & Collector Shri Tarit Kanti Chakma on receiving the prestigious PM Excellence Award 2024 for ‘Holistic Development of Districts’!”
Dr Saha mentioned, “This achievement showcases the district’s remarkable progress and unwavering dedication to excellence”.
Dr Manik Saha congratulated the people of Ganganagar Aspirational Block
In another post, Dr Manik Saha congratulated the people of Ganganagar Aspirational Block in Dhalai District of Tripura and wrote, “It’s a matter of pride that Ganganagar, an aspirational block in Tripura’s Dhalai district, has been honored with the prestigious PM Excellence Award 2024. Congratulations to the people of Ganganagar block and Saju Vaheed A., DM & Collector of Dhalai district, who received the award from Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji on Civil Services Day. This achievement reflects the State Government’s commitment to progress in the region and showcases the block’s dedication to excellence”

Glimpse of Gomati’s Holistic development
Under the Mission Indradhanush, over 4500 children were vaccinated in the district and 3.2 lakh children were brought under the ambit of the Poshan Abhiyan. Over 22000 houses were built under the PMAY in the District.

Gomati District administration distributed more than 3.8 lakh Ayushman cards under the PM Jan Arogya Yojana. More than 5200 beneficiaries enrolled under the PM Vishwakarma Yojana. The Gomati District also achieved success in implementation of other welfare schemes.
Achievements of Ganganagar Block
Under the Aspirational Block Programme, Ganganagar is witnessing transformation. The administration achieved 100 percent Supplementary Nutrition Distributed to pregnant mothers. For quality education, Digital Board and e-learning initiatives were introduced. Over 2200 Households added to the SHG network and 100 percent SHGs received Revolving Fund Support. More than 1600 Pucca houses were built.

PM Modi speaks on Holistic development, mentions Gomati & other districts
The theme of the 17th Civil Services Day is ‘Holistic Development of India’.
A PIB Press release read, expressing happiness over the theme, PM Modi emphasized that this is not just a theme but a commitment and a promise to the people of the nation.
“Holistic development of India means ensuring that no village, no family, and no citizen is left behind”, he stressed, remarking that true progress is not about small changes but about achieving a full-scale impact.
He outlined the vision of holistic development, which includes clean water for every household, quality education for every child, financial access for every entrepreneur, and the benefits of the digital economy for every village.
PM Modi highlighted that quality in governance is not determined by the mere launch of schemes but by how deeply these schemes reach the people and their real impact.
The Prime Minister noted the visible impact in districts like Rajkot, Gomati, Tinsukia, Koraput, and Kupwara, where significant progress has been made, from increasing school attendance to adopting solar power. He congratulated the districts and individuals associated with these initiatives, acknowledging their excellent work and the awards received by several districts.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of human judgment in a technology-driven world, urging civil servants to remain sensitive, listen to the voices of the underprivileged, understand their struggles, and prioritize resolving their issues.
Nagaril Devo Bhava
Concluding his address, he invoked the principle of “Nagrik Devo Bhava,” likening it to the ethos of “Atithi Devo Bhava,” and called on civil servants to see themselves not just as administrators but as architects of a developed India, fulfilling their responsibilities with dedication and compassion.
Union Minister of State for Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr Jitendra Singh, Principal Secretary – 2 to Prime Minister, Shaktikanta Das, Cabinet Secretary, T V Somanathan and Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances, V Srinivas were present on the occasion.
Background
Prime Minister has always encouraged Civil Servants across India to dedicate themselves to the cause of citizens, be committed to public service and strive towards excellence in their work. This year, 16 awards were given by the Prime Minister in the categories of Holistic Development of Districts, Aspirational Blocks Programme and Innovation to civil servants. They were recognised for work done for the welfare of common citizens through this.
