January 20, 2018: 17 people were killed after a fire broke out in a cracker factory at Bawana industrial area in New Delhi Saturday evening.
According to Fire Department the blaze started at 6 PM from a firecracker factory which has a rubber factory atop it on the second storey and soon engulfed the entire structure. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed anguish at the death of people in the fire. In a tweet Saturday night Prime minister said my thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives.
Meanwhile, the Delhi government has ordered an inquiry into the blaze . (AIR News)
