In poll-bound West Bengal, one person lost his life and a number of people including a four year old child injured in pre-poll stray violence at various places last night and today. An area-level Trinamool Congress,TMC, leader was killed and his party colleague, driving back the Anchal Sabhapati of Dholahat area on a bike, was seriously injured last night when some unidentified assailants attacked them with fire arms and choppers. They were returning from a TMC election rally in South 24 Parganas district.
In North 24-Parganas, the right hand of a child at Titagarh was blown off in a crude bomb explosion today. The baby has been admitted in a Kolkata hospital in a critical condition. The Police today arrested one Amarjeet Singh with an illegal revolver for opening fire at some party activists at Kasba on Wednesday. Some activists of both TMC and CPI-M were reportedly injured today in a scuffle at Kanksa in Durgapur. TMC supporters alleged that Left supporters defaced their wall graffiti.
In Uttar Dinajpur district, another TMC local leader of Hemtabad was hospitalized yesterday with serious injuries. According to Police, he was allegedly attacked by a rival group of his party and husband of the local assembly candidate has been accused for the attack. A joint team of Police and Central forces, meanwhile, today seized two automatic guns with a large number of ammunition in South Dinajpur district in a search operation.
