Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today said, a single Vijay Mallya episode cannot undo all the good work done by domestic and international companies in India.
AIR News reported, in an interview to PTI, she said, Corporate misconduct happens all over the world. And just one incident cannot be reflective of all the good work being done by so many good companies, which are not just in India but also carrying India’s flag abroad, said the Minister.
She, however, insisted that the nation can learn lessons and take steps to prevent recurrence of such corporate wrongdoings in future.
Mallya, whose group company owes over Rs 9,000 crore to 17 banks, had left the country on 4th March. He is currently in the UK. His financial dealings are being probed by several investigative agencies, including CBI, Enforcement Directorate and the tax department.
