Jan 27, 2017: Aiming to stop army personnel resorting to social media about grievances, Chief of Army staff General Bipin Rawat has launched a Whatsapp helpline today. Sources said, the helpline number is 9643300008. The silent objective of this step clearly to dissuade army jawans going public using socal medial platform about individual grievances. Instead of resorting to social media, army men can let the Chief Of the Army staff straightway about their grievances using this Whatapp number.
This Whatapp number will help the aggrieved and disgruntled army personnel to directly communicate with the Army chief. This step comes in the backdrop of complaint being uploaded by some soldiers on social media platform that created a lot of confusion and discontent among the people.
General Rawat earlier had said that redressal of individual grievances of serving personnel should be carried out through established mechanisms within the Army rather than resorting to social media.
