Jan 28, 2017: Batting in favour of sustainable and transparent GST, West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra today said, there many unsettled issues which need to be sorted out. He was speaking at a pre-budget meeting today (Saturday) with Business Chambers and associations of West Bengal. Chairman of the Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers on GST, Amit Mitra, however, did not hint about a possible date for rolling out the GST.
He categorically stated Trinamool Congress Government will fight to ensure that GST will be small industry friendly. To this end he said, even if his Party has to go for a solo fight, West Bengal Government will not hesitate to take plunge and keep on fighting.
Referring to his Government’s fight to make GST transparent and small industry friendly, he said, his Government could win on few matters relating to GST and added there are around 13 sections of the law that are required to be settled.
