Agartala, April 20: In a moment of unparalleled pride for Tripura, Aritra Roy, a 28-year-old adventurer from Badharghat, Agartala, stands on the cusp of etching his name into mountaineering history. Roy is poised to conquer Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak, in a journey that epitomizes courage, resilience, and an unyielding spirit.
On Sunday, Roy achieved a pivotal milestone by summiting Mount Lobuche, a formidable 20,100-foot peak in Nepal’s Himalayas.
Battling subzero temperatures, treacherous terrain, and howling winds, he showcased the mental fortitude and physical endurance that have defined his extraordinary quest. This ascent marks a critical step toward his ultimate goal: the 29,032-foot summit of Everest.
Renowned mountaineer Pranab Akhand joined a chorus of supporters in lauding Roy’s determination.
“Aritra’s journey is an inspiration to us all. We pray for his success and safe return,” Akhand said.
Across Tripura, citizens rally behind Roy, their hopes soaring with each step he takes toward the summit.
Roy’s odyssey began on March 16, when he embarked on an audacious solo bicycle journey from Agartala. Pedaling through Jalpaiguri and braving fierce storms, he arrived at Everest Base Camp earlier this month.
His relentless drive and meticulous preparation have positioned him for a historic ascent. If successful, Roy will become the first from Tripura to summit Everest, a feat that would inscribe the state’s name in the annals of adventure.

The son of the late Sanjay Roy, a revered physical education teacher and football coach, Aritra carries forward a legacy of discipline and tenacity.
Sports enthusiasts opined, “As Roy prepares for the final, grueling push to the summit, Tripura people hold breath. His triumph would not only mark a personal victory but also ignite pride across the state. With the prayers of thousands behind him, Aritra Roy climbs not just a mountain, but toward a legacy of glory”.
May he return safely, bearing the flag of victory and the pride of a state forever changed by his daring ascent.
