Feb 04, 2017: Goa registered a record voter turnout of 83 percent in today’s assembly polls while Punjab recorded 70 percent polling till 5 PM.
In last assembly elections, Goa had recorded 81.8 percent polling . According to reports from AIR News, Deputy Election Commissioner Umesh Sinha said, no case of paid news was reported in the state while media in New Delhi this evening.
In Punjab voter turnout in last assembly polls in 2012 was a little over 78 percent. Quoting Deputy Election Commissioner Sandeep Saxena AIR News said there were 59 cases of paid news reported. Voting in both Goa and Punjab were by and large peaceful.
The final figures may change as reports are yet to come from some polling booths. There were also some reports of EVMs developing technical snags which were replaced.
