Mar 04, 2017: The sixth phase of Assembly Polls in UP and the first phase of Manipur Assembly polls are underway.
In Uttar Pradesh, polling begun today at 7AM and around 23 percent polling recorded till 11 AM covering 49 constituencies spread over 7 districts of eastern UP. Polling will end at 5 PM. A total of 635 candidates including 63 women are in the fray for this phase.
In Manipur, polls for 38 Assembly constituencies are going on and total 168 candidates are in the fray in first phase. Around 43 percent votes were cast till 11 AM.
So far, there is no report of any untoward incidences in UP and Manipur. EC sources revealed, elaborate security arrangements have been made in both the States.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting his constituency – Varanasi and campaigning for party candidates for the seventh and final phase of UP Assembly Polls. The final phase polling will be conducted on March 8.
