Mar 16, 2017: Amidst bitter taste of defeat in UP and Uttrakhand and frustration failure in Manipur and Goa, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief Capt Amarinder Singh sworn in as the state’s 26th chief minister at the Raj Bhawan in Chandigarh.
Governor VP Singh administered the oath to Captain Amarinder Singh as the Chief Minister today for the second term.

Captain Singh led the Congress to victory in Punjab after a decade in a three-corner poll contest. Among others, six-time MLA and Congress stalwart Brahm Mohindra, Manpreet Badal, Navjot Singh Sidhu takes oath. As per constitutional cap 18 members can be inducted as cabinet Minister.
In recent Assembly election, Congress won 77 of the 117 Assembly seats. The AAP emerged as second largest opposition Party with 20 seats and SAD-BJP alliance finished at third spot.
