Mar 18, 2017: Senior BJP leader and RSS activist Trivendra Singh Rawat will sworn-in as the 5th BJP Chief Minister of Uttarakh today and Governor KK Paul will administer the oath. Nine other ministers will also take oath today. In UP, BJP MLAs will elect legislature Party leader today.
In Uttrakhand, a host of senior leaders and ministers are expected to attend Rawat’s oath taking ceremony. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah and other senior leaders and cabinet ministers of the NDA government are likely to attend the swear-in ceremony at Parade Ground in Dehradun.
Trivendra Singh Rawat was Agriculture Minister in the previous BJP government in Uttarakhand, which was carved out of Uttar Pradesh in 2000. In recently concluded Uttarakhand Assembly elections, BJP bagged 57 of the total 70 seats.
In recent Uttarakhand Assembly elections, BJP won 57 of the 70 seats. This was the biggest ever win by any party in the state so far. Outlining priorities of his BJP Government, Rawat said, BJP will for poor people of Uttrakhand and provide a corruption free Government.
In Uttar Pradesh, newly elected MLAs of BJP will meet today in Lucknow to elect legislature party leader. According to several media reports, balance is tilted towards the Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha in the race. However BJP state President Keshav Prasad Maurya is still in the race and Maurya’s chances can not be ruled out.
