May 25 2017: Assam Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal said that his government was committed to seal the Indo-Bangladesh border soon. Talking to media persons in Guwahati on completion of 1 year of the BJP-led government in office, Mr Sonowal announced that government’s efforts would be to reduce cross border arms and cattle smuggling.
The Chief Minister also said that the draft roll of the National Register of Citizens will be published by the 31st of December this year. Stating that his government has taken stern measure against corruption, Mr Sonowal said that the vigilance wing of the state police has taken up around 100 such cases, adding that nobody will be spared if involved in corruption. Mr. Sonowal said that an investment of 6500 crore rupees have also been registered during the first year of his government, and over 10 lakh toilets have been constructed in the state under the Swacch Bharat Mission.
