June 3, 2017: A four-hour challenge to prove that EVMs can be rigged and results can be altered in favour of a particular political party has started at the Election Commission’s office in New Delhi today. Air News reports, only Nationalist Congress Party and CPI(M) have shown willingness to participate in the challenge. It is reported by News agencies that AAP had decided to refrain from participating in the challenge saying ECs ‘rule were too restrictive’.
The Commission has pulled out 14 sealed EVMs for the challenge from its strong rooms in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand where assembly polls were held recently. The challengers will get four hours – 10am to 2pm – and access to four machines each to prove that the EVMs can be rigged.
