The BJP and JD(U) have issued whip to their legislators to vote in favour of trust vote. On the other hand RJD and Congress have also issued whip to their legislators. With the support of 132 MLAs, NDA and JD(U) alliance enjoys a comfortable majority in 243 member state assembly where 122 MLAs are required to prove majority. Opposition RJD has 80 MLAs, the Congress 27 and the CPI-ML 3.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made in and around the assembly building.

Nitish Kumar was sworn in as the chief minister along with BJP’s Sushil Kumar Modi as his deputy yesterday by Governor KN Tripathi. The Governor has given two days to the new government to prove its majority on the floor of the House.

Talking to media persons after swearing-in, Mr Kumar defended his decision to ally with BJP. The Chief Minister said, he is committed to the development of Bihar and he formed the new government in the interest of the state. He expressed confidence that the pace of progress of the state will gain fresh momentum with assistance from the Centre. Kumar said, there will be no compromise on corruption. (AIR News)
