Police seize Yaba Tablets in Dharmanagar, woman held
Dharmanagar, Dec 13: Acting on a tip-off, Tripura Police recovered a large consignment of yaba tablets in Dharmanagar during a raid near Rajbari Railway Station on Saturday. A woman was arrested in connection with the seizure.
Police identified the accused as Shukla Debnath, daughter of Dwijendra Debnath. She is originally from the Debipur area under the Kamalasagar Assembly constituency and was residing in a rented house at Chandrapur in Agartala. During a search operation, police recovered more than 1,960 yaba tablets from a bag in her possession.
Officer-in-Charge of Dharmanagar Police Station Meena Debbarma said the estimated market value of the seized contraband is between ₹10 lakh and ₹12 lakh. A case has been registered against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and she has been remanded to police custody.
Police officials said further investigation is underway to determine whether the accused is linked to a larger drug trafficking network. Efforts are being made to identify and trace other individuals involved in the illegal narcotics trade.
