CM Links Debate Culture to Viksit Bharat Vision
Agartala Dec 21: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday emphasized the role of structured discussions in nurturing independent thought.
He said that debates help individuals sharpen their reasoning abilities while presenting ideas with clarity and logic, making them especially relevant in the present time.
Dr. Saha made these remarks while formally inaugurating a debate programme organised by the Advocate Dilip Sarkar Memorial Foundation at the Agartala Town Hall.
Underscoring the importance of academic forums beyond classrooms, the Chief Minister said such debate platforms should be organised regularly in schools and colleges to encourage intellectual engagement among students.
He noted that participation in debates not only strengthens confidence and communication skills but also broadens understanding of history, improves decision-making abilities, and helps identify and nurture hidden talent.
“Tripura has no shortage of capable students, and initiatives like these are crucial to bring their potential to the forefront,” he observed.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas, Dr. Saha urged people from all sections to actively contribute towards the collective mission of shaping a ‘New Tripura’.
The Chief Minister said that the goal of building a Viksit Bharat depends on the overall development of every state, adding that Tripura is steadily moving in that direction through focused initiatives.
He also mentioned that the Prime Minister has been consistently highlighting Tripura’s development journey on national platforms, reflecting the state’s growing prominence.

During the programme, Dr. Saha appreciated the Advocate Dilip Sarkar Memorial Foundation (DSMF) for its continued contribution to social causes and intellectual initiatives.
Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma, Chairperson of the Tripura Human Rights Commission and former High Court judge Justice Arindam Lodh, along with several other dignitaries, attended the event.
