Strong Policing Brings Big Gains in Women Safety, Road Safety: South Tripura SP
Sabroom (Tripura) Jan 1, 2026: The South Tripura district administration has recorded significant improvements in key law and order indicators during 2025, particularly in crimes against women (CAW), road safety, and anti-narcotics enforcement.
The achievements were outlined by South Tripura Superintendent of Police IPS Moria Krishna during a press conference reviewing the district’s policing performance over the past year.
According to the police assessment, CAW in South Tripura registered a sharp decline of 27.27 percent in 2025, reflecting stronger preventive measures, quicker police response, and increased public awareness.
The police leadership said focused monitoring of sensitive cases and closer coordination with communities played a crucial role in improving safety for women across the district.
Road safety also emerged as a major area of progress. The district witnessed a 15.62 percent reduction in overall road accidents, while fatal road mishaps dropped significantly by 41.4 percent.
Strict enforcement of traffic regulations, increased checking drives, higher fines, and license seizures contributed to improved compliance and safer roads.
On the anti-drug front, South Tripura Police intensified operations under the NDPS Act throughout the year.
As a result, the number of NDPS cases increased, indicating tougher action against drug trafficking networks.
Large quantities of narcotics were seized during multiple operations, sending a strong message against the drug trade in the district.

The Superintendent of Police attributed these outcomes to the Chief Minister’s Nasha Mukt Tripura Abhiyan and the continued modernization of the Tripura Police force.
