Statehood Day Awards Celebrate Excellence

Agartala, Jan 21: On the occasion of Tripura’s Statehood Day, the state government on Wednesday honoured eminent personalities from various walks of life.  A total of six State Citizen Awards and 11 Statehood Day Awards were conferred upon in recognition of their outstanding contributions.

The awards were presented by Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha along with other dignitaries at a formal ceremony.

State Citizen Awards

Among the State Citizen Awards, the prestigious Tripura Bibhushan honour was posthumously conferred on eminent educationist late Dhirendra Chandra Dutta.

The Tripura Bhushan honour was posthumously awarded to former Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly late Biswabandhu Sen and also conferred on noted screenplay writer Biplab Goswami.

The Sachin Debbarman Memorial State Award was presented to distinguished folk artiste Surya Kumar Debbarma, popularly known as Sadagar.

The Maharani Kanchanprabha Devi Memorial State Award was given to Champa Das of Kamalghat, while the State Award for contributions in science and environment was conferred on Dr Arijit Das, Associate Professor and Head of the Department at Bir Bikram Memorial College.

Statehood Day Awards

Under the Statehood Day Awards, the Good Citizen Award was presented to Gautam Das of Purba Pratapgarh.

The Best Startup Entrepreneur award was conferred on Atkalapa Biotechnology LLP of Nagiichhara. In the agriculture and horticulture sector, the Best Entrepreneur award went to Dhanbabu Halam of Simbukchak village in Salema subdivision.

The Best Entrepreneur in Fisheries award was given to Krishna Debbarma of Mohanbhog in Sepahijala district, while Ratan Debnath of Bishramganj was honoured as the Best Entrepreneur in Animal Husbandry. Uttam Kumar Das of Teliamura received the award for Best Entrepreneur in Handloom, Handicrafts and Beekeeping.

The Best Entrepreneur in Industrial Enterprise category was awarded to Dipak Dutta of Kanchanbari in Fatikroy. The Best Mobile App award was presented to Satyabrata Biswas of Purba Jogendranagar, while the Best Cooperative Society award was conferred on Tulamura PACS Limited of Gomati district.

The Best Educationist award was presented to Laxman Malakar of Belonia, and the Best Sportsperson honour was conferred on Sriparna Debnath of Natunnagar.

The Chief Minister, accompanied by other guests, handed over the awards to the recipients amid applause from the audience.
