Agartala, Feb 13: In a major push to strengthen public services and expand healthcare education, the Tripura Cabinet has approved recruitment to 445 vacant posts across multiple departments.

Besides, the cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha cleared the launch of two new medical colleges from the 2026–27 academic session.

The decisions were announced by Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury at a press conference held at the State Secretariat.

330 Posts Created Under Tripura Information Technology Service

For the first time, the state has created 330 posts under the newly formed Tripura Information Technology Service (TITS) to bolster its digital governance framework.

The posts—Assistant Technical Officer, Deputy Technical Officer, Technical Officer and Senior Technical Officer—will function under the Information Technology Department.

Out of these, 220 Assistant Technical Officer posts will be filled through direct recruitment by the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC).

Candidates with Bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunication, Information Technology, as well as MCA degree holders, will be eligible to appear in the recruitment examination.

The remaining 110 posts will be filled through departmental promotions.

Health and Animal Resources Departments to Get Fresh Appointments

The Cabinet has approved recruitment of 110 Veterinary Officers under the Animal Resources Development Department through TPSC. In addition, the Health Department will appoint 100 Multi-Purpose Workers (MPWs), comprising 50 male and 50 female candidates, to strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery.

Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic Colleges to Begin Academic Sessions

From the 2026–27 academic year, academic activities of the proposed Ayurvedic Medical College will begin temporarily at Chandrapur in Udaipur.

The permanent campus will be established at Tepania, Udaipur.

Similarly, the Homoeopathic Medical College will initially operate from the existing Homoeopathic Hospital at Renters Colony in Agartala.

Both colleges will have an intake capacity of 60 students each, marking a significant expansion of alternative medical education in the state.

Additional Decisions

The Cabinet also approved recruitment of 8 Multi-Tasking Staff (Group-D) under the Home Department and 7 Lower Division Clerks under the Power Department.

In a welfare measure, the House Rent Allowance (HRA) for TSR personnel posted in Delhi has been increased from 24 percent to 27 percent.

Further, the daily stipend for 37,773 boarders in residential schools under the Tribal Welfare Department has been enhanced from ₹80 to ₹100.

The latest Cabinet decisions are expected to generate employment opportunities, strengthen administrative efficiency, and boost healthcare and welfare infrastructure across Tripura.
