Agartala Mar 23: In a political twist that has redefined the 2026 TTAADC race, TIPRA Motha Party (TMP) chief Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma has confirmed that his party will not enter into an alliance with the BJP.

In a video message through social media, the TMP Chief said, he will not compromise for political reasons with any party.

He said unless guarantee relating to implementation of the Tiprasa Accord is assured, TMP will not forge an alliance.

This “go-it-alone” declaration comes just as the Indigenous Peoples’ Front of Tripura (IPFT) and the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) signaled their own battle readiness by releasing their official candidate lists.

The collapse of alliance talks between the saffron party and the Motha has effectively turned the Autonomous District Council polls into a wide-open, multi-cornered fight.

While the ruling alliance remains fractured, the IPFT, also an ally of the BJP, has decided to release it’s own candidate list, while the Congress has launched a full-scale offensive announcing candidates for all 28 constituencies.

IPFT to Contest in Nine Seats

Under the signature of General Secretary Swapan Debbarma, the IPFT released its list of nine candidates. From Udar Ram Reang in Damcherra-Jampui seat to Jitiram Tripura in Birchandranagar-Kalsi, the party has fielded its candidate.

IPFT leaders confirmed that these nine candidates will file their nominations this Tuesday, with a second list expected shortly.

Congress Goes Solo on All 28 Seats

Simultaneously, TPCC President Asish Kumar Saha has made it clear that the Congress is not looking for partners.

The party has announced candidates for all 28 seats, signaling an aggressive attempt to make grounds in tribal areas.

Senior Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman launched a scathing attack on his rivals, noting that despite years of posturing over the Roman script and Greater Tipraland, the tribal electorate has been left with “opportunistic” dead-ends.

With the BJP and Motha now officially apart, Roy Barman urged voters to see the Congress as the only consistent ideological force left in the fray.

CPI(M) announced candidate list even before TTAADC Poll schedule was announced.

After alliance talks fail, candidate list from the BJP and TMP are expected to released and immediately nomination filing will start.

News Analysis: The End of Speculation

The confirmation of “No Alliance” between the BJP and Motha—coupled with the IPFT’s early candidate rollout—suggests a return to fragmented tribal politics.

TIPRA Motha Party is ruling TTAADC while BJP is in the opposition. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha spearheaded an aggressive campaign against the TMP and raised the political mercury.

The main fight to capture ADC Will be between BJP and TMP. However, CPI(M) is expected to be a major factor in some seats.
