Chhattisgarh: Maoist gunned down in Sukma district

January 01,2018:     In Chhattisgarh, a Maoist was gunned down in an exchange of fire with security personnel in a dense forest in Sukma district. Police said, the skirmish took place yesterday evening in the forest near Karigundam and Itapara villages.

The encounter took place when a team of District Reserve Guard (DRG), out on a counter-insurgency operation in the forest of Chintagufa, around 500 kms from Raipur, confronted Maoists in the forest near the two villages.

However, after a brief exchange of fire, the ultras escaped into the core forest area. The body of a Maoist clad in uniform was recovered in the search after the encounter. The identity of the killed ultra is yet to be ascertained.                    (AIR NEWS)
