January 23, 2018: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said India’s democracy, demography and dynamism are making the dream of developing a reality, thus giving shape to destiny of the people. Delivering a keynote address at the plenary session of the World Economic Forum in Davos in Switzerland, the Prime Minister said India is making fundamental reforms. Red carpet is replacing red-tape.
He said the motto of his government is ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’, adding that he believed that to achieve development in true sense, we have to take everyone along with us. He said, predictable, stable, transparent and progressive India is good news in an otherwise state of uncertainty and flux across the globe.
Talking about globalization and protectionism, he said, it seems that globalization, as opposed to its definition, is shrinking. He called upon leaders, saying let us create a ‘heaven of freedom’, where there is cooperation and not division, and fractures. Mr Modi said, if you want wealth with wellness, health with wholeness and prosperity with peace, come to India.
Referring to WEF’s theme of ‘Creating a shared future in a fractured world’, he said the Indian philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (the world is one family) has become more relevant in today’s time to address fissures and distances in the world.
In a media briefing by MEA in Davos, Secretary (ER) Vijay Gokhale said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has covered the concept of the world being one family. He said this was the underlining theme of PM’s speech at the world economic forum. The prime minister also met Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau after the keynote address. Mr Gokhale said, both the leaders discussed issues of mutual interest and reiterated their commitments to stand firm in combating terrorism.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also had a meeting with the queen Maxima of the Netherlands on the sidelines of World Economic forum in Davos. The two leaders discussed steps to further deepen the relationships. The Prime minister also interacted with the top global CEOs at the International business council event. (AIR News)
