March 16, 2018: Telugu Desam Party has quit ruling National Democratic Alliance. Party leader YS Chowdary told media in New Delhi that TDP tried it’s best to be together but the present government ignored the sentiments of people of Andhra Pradesh.
He said party president N Chandrababu Naidu took the decision to withdraw from the NDA. Meanwhile, TDP MP Thota Narasimham has written to Lok Sabha Secretariat for moving No-Confidence motion against the government.
Reacting to the move, BJP spokesperson G V L Narsimha Rao said the TDP’s decision to quit was inevitable after its mischievous propaganda against the Centre. He said the people of Andhra Pradesh have now realised that the TDP is resorting to lies to cover up its inept and inert governance. Mr. Rao said, far from being a threat, the TDP’s exit is a timely opportunity for the BJP to grow in the state.
On the other hand, CPI (M) has decided to support the No Confidence Motion to be brought up in the Lok Sabha by the TDP. In a tweet, party General Secretary Sitaram Yechury accused the Centre of betraying the people on the issue of according special status to Andhra Pradesh. (AIR News)
