Tripura government has taken another important step to strengthen the fight against COVID19. The Government has allocated oxygen concentrators in dedicated Covid Hospital and Covid Care Centres as well as distributed oximeters in districts for home-isolation patients.
As many as 185 oxygen concentrators have been distributed among the Dedicated Covid Hospital and Covid Care Centres for better management of critical patients.
The oxygen concentrators, as per official sources, have been arranged under National Health Mission.
According to information collected from Google, An oxygen concentrator is a device that concentrates the oxygen from a gas supply (typically ambient air) by selectively removing nitrogen to supply an oxygen-enriched product gas stream. Two methods in common use are pressure swing adsorption and membrane gas separation.
The ability of oxygen concentrators to continuously draw in and treat air ensures that it will never run out of oxygen. This feature is crucial as Covid19 cases are rising in the State. Moreover, lightweight oxygen concentrator makes it an easily portable device.
Meanwhile, the Health department has also received 824 Pulse oximeters which are being sent to districts for distribution among the patients who are in home isolation.
A pulse oximeter is a small, lightweight device used to monitor the amount of oxygen carried in the body. This noninvasive tool attaches painlessly to, usually, fingertip to measure your pulse rate and how much oxygen is in patient’s body system.
All COVID19 patients who are under home isolation would be given one pulse oximeter each for the purpose of self monitoring. In this context, the Health department is allocating total 824 pulse oximeters in districts. As on today, total 786 COVID patients are under self isolation. The figure included- 415 in West Tripura, 26 in Sepahijala, 153 in Khowai, 171 in Gomati, 03 in South Tripura, 08 in Dhalai district, 5 in Unakoti district and 5 in North Tripura district.
