During last 24 hours, in separate road accidents, one biker died while three other bikers were seriously wounded in different parts of Tripura. Driving at high speed proved fatal for one Dipesh Rupini on Tuesday night. Sources said, Dipesh was driving a bike and Dhiresh Tripura was pillion rider. As the bike was running at a high speed, Dipesh lost control and the bike crashed against an electric post leaving both of them seriously injured. This accident happened near Bishalgarh SDM office. Fire service personnel reached the spot and took the wounded youth to Bishalgarh sub-divisional hospital. However, in-charge doctor pronounced Dipesh ‘brought dead’ and referred the injured pillion rider to GB Hospital with critical injuries. Police have taken the wrecked motorcycle to the local police station.
In two other separate road accidents two young bikers were injured today. In the first incident of road mishap, a 28-year old youth identified as Joy Das was injured in a bike accident. He is a resident of Sabrum in South District. The accident took place on the way from Chota Khil to Jalefa at around 10 AM today morning.
According to reports, an auto hit the bike and fled away from the scene. Sabrum Police started investigation of the case. Sources said that locals have rescued injured Joy Das and took him to Sabrum sub-division hospital. On duty doctor Mithun Banik immediately referred him to Gomati district hospital as the patient’s condition was critical.
In another incident, one blood soaked biker was found lying on road side at Kankulia Shalbagan area in South Tripura district today evening. The injured biker was identified as Rakesh Das (23), a resident of North Jolaibari. Reason behind the accident is yet to be ascertained and Police have started investigation.
Even as State Traffic Police and local administration are repeatedly urging bikers and vehicle drivers to avoid rash driving and obey traffic rules, road accidents remain unabated. Bikers are regularly falling victim to accidents. Unruly bikers have become a major concern and Traffic department needs to devise some ways to rein the errant bikers, one of the Bishalgarh resident said.
