Tripura has ranked second in the NITI Aayog listed Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) first indicator that deals in ending poverty of all sorts. After Tamil Nadu, Tripura comes in the second position with 70 points out of 100 which also makes it fall in the front-runner state category as per the NITI Aayog list 2018-19, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said and added, the achievement aptly depict Tripura Government’s policies to shed the tag off a poor state.
“The NITI Aayog enlistment indicates that poverty is no longer a big issue for Tripura”, Nath claimed on Friday. As per the NITI Aayog documents, Nath said, there are altogether 4 categories. The state which has accounted for 100 points in one of the 17 goals, is called an achiever for that particular goal. The second category is front runner that lingers between 65 to 99 points. After that comes, performer category in between 50 to 64 points and last comes the aspirant category with 0 to 49 points, Nath said.
According to Nath, Tripura is front runner in SDGs like gender equality with 69 points, sustainable consumption and production goal with 82 points. The state has also secured places in the performer category in ensuring healthy life and promoting well being goal, with 61 points, ensuring education and lifelong learning goal with 55 points, doubling the rate of energy efficiency with 56 points and employment goal with 63 points, he said.
In rest of the categories Tripura comes as an aspirant state that include city, resilient and future innovation, hunger and food security etc., Nath said.
